How
to Take Care of Your Small Aquarium (For Beginners)
Aquarium
comes in all different sizes. After setting up an Aquarium you must know how to
take care of your Fish, I am here below mentioning some of the tips how to take
care of your new Aquarium.
Tips
1 First of all you should decide whether you want Tropical or Coldwater fish. Coldwater fish include goldfish and minnows. There are many types of tropical fish, from angelfish to catfish. Coldwater fish are usually a little more hardy, and will survive those first few mistakes, Do not start off with expensive fish, Try to start with Inexpensive ones, Inexpensive are very successful in their natural environments and do not die easily on their way to and in pet stores.
2 Water to be used in Aquarium: First and most important part of Setting up an aquarium is the water you put in the aquarium, Beginners do mistakes that they pour Boring water or water supplied through Corporation, The Borewell water may have high water hardness that can kill your fish, and Corporation supplied water have Chlorine in it. Chlorine can also kill your Fish, You should use 80% RO water and 20% Boring water, If you have only Corporation water use 50% of that and 50% RO Water and do dechlorinat water before adding fish.
3 When it comes to purchase fish, take some time to research exactly what you are buying. Understand how big the fish will get, its temperament, its space requirements and which fish it will get along with. It’s a beginner’s mistake to go to the pet store and purchase fish by looks alone. You could end up with aggressive fish species without realizing it, or fish that simply aren't compatible. Better to do your own research and learn about your pet before purchase. Along these lines, do not overstock your tank. An overcrowded tank results in increased aggression, increased stress, increased disease and an overall unhealthy living situation for your fish. It is far better to under-stock your tank and have fewer but healthier fish.
4 Get an appropriately sized tank. For Startup you should start with 35 Liter Capacity Tank if you are planning for Gold Fish, Because Gold fish needs more Space than any other Coldwater Fish.(Remember Do not Overcrowd the Tank)
5 Make sure you have all the proper equipment- filters (Bio Filter is recommended), Water heaters, water conditioner, etc.
6 Put your fish in. Add a few fish to start with than slowly Add fish in frequent time. Adding too many fish at once can overload your filtration system.
7 Perform partial water changes every week. Do minimum 30% water change every week. Also add water conditioner in the time of Partial water change. Add Rock Salt to avoid Fungal Infection in Fish.
8 Feed your fish only two times a day. And monitor that the amount of food you are giving is consumed within Five Minutes; otherwise it will drown in the aquarium bottom and will increase nitrate level of your aquarium water, which can affect you Fish health
9 Avoid stressing out your fish. Don’t put your hand in the tank unnecessary, It will stress out your Fish.
It all may
seem intimidating, but if you apply these
tips into your fish care routine you’ll end up with a pretty tank full of
healthy fish. Once your tank running the care and maintenance required to keep
it going really should not take up a lot of your time. As little as an hour a
week is all that’s needed.
Remember
that fish are not disposable pets, and if you choose to keep them in your home
they are worth taking the time to care for properly. that’s up to you to make
that possible, and it’s not as hard as it seems.
Yes, you
will make mistakes and lose a few fish in the beginning day. But as long as you
are doing your best you shouldn’t feel badly about it. We’ve all been there.
Good luck!
